Celebrating Diversity Month: Unleashing the Power of WISE

Diversity Month serves as a poignant reminder of the richness of human experiences and the beauty found in our differences. It's a time to celebrate the mosaic of cultures, identities, and perspectives that make our world vibrant and dynamic. As we navigate through Diversity Month, it's essential to recognize the invaluable contributions of individuals from all walks of life and to explore avenues through which we can honor diversity in meaningful ways.

One such avenue is Women Impacting Storebrand Excellence (WISE)… you read that! Us!!!

WISE is an organization dedicated to empowering and celebrating men and women in the retail and CPG industry. As we commemorate Diversity Month, let's delve into how WISE serves as a catalyst for inclusivity and empowerment, and how you can harness its resources to celebrate diversity:

  1. Fostering Inclusive Leadership: At the heart of WISE is a commitment to fostering inclusive leadership within the retail and CPG industry. By providing networking opportunities, leadership development programs, and mentorship initiatives, WISE empowers men and women from diverse backgrounds to thrive in leadership roles. During Diversity Month, consider participating in a WISE program, like our DE&I Learning Series in 2025, or InPower Coaching, that would allow you to connect with like-minded individuals and champion inclusive leadership within your organization.
  2. Amplifying Diverse Voices: Diversity is not just about representation—it's about amplifying diverse voices and perspectives. WISE provides a platform for men and women from diverse backgrounds to share their insights, experiences, and expertise within the retail and CPG sector. Through WISE Connects, webinars, trainings, industry conferences, and our annual meeting, WISE amplifies the voices of individuals of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, individuals with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups, fostering a more inclusive dialogue and driving positive change. During Diversity Month, consider joining a WISE Connect online forum the next time you see one scheduled.
  3. Cultivating Mentorship and Support: Mentorship is a powerful tool for professional growth and development. WISE offers their Mentor Circle program that pair experienced leaders with emerging professionals, providing guidance, support, and valuable insights to navigate the complexities of the retail industry. During Diversity Month, consider attending our WISE Webinar: The Culture of Mentorship on May 8th, or ask yourself if becoming a mentor or mentee through WISE's Mentor Circles in 2025 may be a good fit for you. You have the power to contribute to the cultivation of a supportive ecosystem where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
  4. Advocating for Diversity and Inclusion: Advocacy is essential in driving systemic change. WISE advocates for diversity and inclusion within the retail and CPG industry, partnering with organizations, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance equitable practices and policies. By joining WISE's advocacy efforts, you can lend your voice to important conversations surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion, and contribute to building a more inclusive industry for all.
  5. Celebrating Achievements: Diversity Month is a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals from all backgrounds. WISE celebrates the accomplishments of individuals in the retail and CPG sector through awards, recognition programs, and industry events. Take this opportunity to think about who you may want to nominate for a 2024 Top Women in Storebrands (TWISB) award. We will be taking nominations this summer, so keep your eyes peeled for next steps.

As we honor Diversity Month, let us recognize the importance of organizations like WISE in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the retail and CPG industry.
